Emergency Accommodation
If you are fleeing an abusive relationship, we can offer temporary accommodation for you, your children and young people.
Refuge accommodation is a safe place for women on their own or women and their children who must leave their homes in an emergency to seek safety and support.
It is a place where women can have time and space to make decisions free from fear and pressure. You and your children will have your own Support Worker to guide you through the process of moving in and discuss your options when you are ready to move on.
In Fermanagh we have 4 (2 Bedroom) single-unit homes; a private space for you and your family with an secure garden at the back.
In Omagh we have 6 rooms available with access to your own bathroom, and kitchen in a communal setting with shared bathroom, living room, spacious playroom and secure outdoor play area.
Refuge Support includes:
- Someone to talk to and someone to listen
- One-to-one support in a safe place
- Safety planning and risk management
- Housing guidance and information and support for accessing a new home
- Practical assistance in accessing benefits
- Information on your rights
- Information on protection orders and access to solicitors and court
- Practical and emotional wellbeing
- Education on domestic violence
- Parenting and support for your children
- Signposting to other support agencies
- Advocacy with other support agencies safety and support planning
- Moving on from refuge accommodation and settling into your new home
You can refer yourself to refuge directly by contacting our Resource Centre 02882 441 555 during office hours or through the 24 Hour Domestic & Sexual Violence Helpline: 0808 802 1414 in the evenings and weekends.
Some women are referred to refuge by a range of agencies such as the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, the PSNI and Social Services.
You and your children can stay in refuge for as long as you need. Some women only stay a few days, others stay for a longer period of time while they wait to be re-housed.
